4.5 Weighted GPA, 3.7 Unweighted, 1290 (Old SAT), very strong writing on petition. Chances?
Very likely. You are essentially the perfect model of a student that should get in via petition numbers-wise. Your SAT couldn’t be any closer, and GPA blows the required GPA out of the water.
@iubaccounting Thank you so much! I’ve been a nervous wreck believing they would only look at my unweighted which is just below haha, hope it all works out in the end, thanks again!
No problem. I’m a sophomore in Kelley and I’d be happy to answer any other questions about IU/Kelley if you have them.
@iubaccounting if not a direct admit, how difficult is it to transfer in after your freshman year? I’m trying to make back-up plans for if I don’t get DA, and wondering if IU is still worth the risk of not getting in.
You have to get a solid B or above in every class and complete these requirements: https://kelley.iu.edu/Ugrad/Admissions/CurrentIU/page39067.html
It’s definitely doable, especially if you plan classes strategically. You should get in though
@iubaccounting would you recommend taking math and writing courses over the summer at my local community college to lighten the course load when at IU?
It wouldn’t be a bad idea, but you don’t necessarily have to. I didn’t take any CC classes, but I came in with a lot of AP credits that got me out of Micro and Macro econ, writing, and some gen eds. It is nice because it freed up some spots to get an early start on major classes so I can go for a double major. If you are going to take something, a W131 equivalent, M118 (finite math) and M119 (calculus) are good choices.
@iubaccounting I won’t be coming in with any AP credit, just 3 random college credits for a sociology class I took at my local CC. I plan on taking Finite and Calculus this summer because I’m a bit worried about math freshman year and maintaining the all B’s required for Kelley.
Do the Kelley petition decisions come out in a rolling fashion or do they all come out before the February deadline all at once??
I got a 3.65 WGPA and a 33 ACT. I submitted the petition before November 30th, Do I have a good chance? Or is my GPA too far from the requirement.
@Slamm.1 I’m obviously no expert since I’m also looking for advice. However, I think your chances are pretty good! ACT is above pretty well and all you need is one of the criteria to be met, good luck!
High. There is almost no way you will not get in.
