AMAZING recomendations from teachers and guidance… my guidance counselor included in her letter how im not a test taker and the SATs dont say anything about me.

ALSO: BOTH my parents went to American University and continue to donate money.

If they read your app and see how much you really want to go there you should have a good chance. You probably need to get more upclose and personal than someone with higher stats would. Visit, esablish contact with someone in Admissions from your region, etc. Good luck to you.

asap~ yeah, try the ACTs. your academics seem too low, hence the question about legacy...it'll help, but i don't know their position on legacies. gotta get your SATs up significantly. GOOD LUCK!

i dont understand how a 3.4 is low but whatever...I took the SAT's 2 times. What angers me is I spent thousands of dollars on a priavte tutor and those were the highest scores i could get! I took the ACT as well and i didn't even send it because I did so bad.

I'm waiting to hear back from them any day now.

uhh. i don't see how 300 points below their avg. sat is good. i mean guess it depends how much money your parents give, which is bad, but i mean if they give lots of money each year to their school then it might help. but i'm sorry ur sat is really really low, you need to think about retaking it, because a 1,000 isn't very good at all.

SAT is low, GPA is average, class rank is not great, no extraordinary awards/achievements. I can't say anything about recommendations, because I have not read them.

But based on what you wrote, I am rather unconvinced. It's not just the test score. But your other academic/EC factors don't really make up for the low SAT score because they are still somewhat average.

i appreciate it. sometimes your top choice (mine is Northeastern) isn't where you would be the happiest anyway... although they don't emphasize the SAT as much there because they're looking for motivation espicially for Co-Op.. Ok ill shut up and go to their board now. haha

My intention was not to discourage you from attending AU. I really hope that you didn't take offense from my post (if you did, I apologize). I just felt that, solely from inferring from what you wrote down, you did not give me an impression of a brilliant student who just is not a good test taker.

But, I defer my judgment on this matter because I have not read your recommendations and have no knowledge on the details of your achievements/awards :).

I wish you the best of luck. I hope AU sees the best in you.
