Hello! I just got deferred from Princeton; I’m a Canadian student and was wondering what my chances were for schools like Williams, Amherst, Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell, UPenn, Swarthmore.
1550/1600 SAT I (one sitting)
42/45 IB Total Score (6s in Mandarin, History, English)
800/800 Math II, 800/800 Chemistry, few languages less than 750/800 that I might not submit
Extracurriculars:
National awards for this proof-of-concept business I lead-wrote (leading a team of 30 and writing a national 3rd best business plan)
Cofounder and Executive Director for this busking fundraiser; built around 15 washrooms worldwide by organizing super talented musicians to play in front of stores and parks
Cofounder and Director of School Network for a registered NPO that destigmatizes homelessness in Vancouver
Director of Administration for major business case competition in Vancouver (attended by around 300)
Intern and Youth Councillor for a Member of Parliament (got a rec letter from him)
Editor in Chief of School Newspaper
Concertmaster for two school orchestras
Junior varsity player (grades 9 and 10) and coached middle school team
Staffed a couple MUN conferences
Job for 4 years as an assistant accountant
Quadrilingual (Korean, Mandarin, French, English)
Overall, I’m a social entrepreneur who likes music and creativity to take a couple nice breaks in between work. I’m super worried now because the admission rates for international students in RD are so low that I’m beginning to worry if I’ll get in anywhere at all.
Btw I’m Asian-Canadian and come from a middle class family (need financial aid)
(and I won’t be applying to safety schools in the US, my safety schools are Canadian).
