Work Experience:

Working as a paid research intern with a doctor at my local med center---may submit research to Siemens but who knows

Worked a paper route for 7 years

You should submit your research to Siemens. It can’t hurt and it you recieve any type of recognition it will give your application a great boost. It also shows that you actually did good research.

In my opinion, you definitely have everything it takes to get into the LSM program. It’s honestly up to your essays now, which you say are amazing. Especially work on the LSM essay and convey your passion for both the life sciences and business, and why you want to study both. I had really good, genuine essays and got into LSM with a less impressive resume than yours. Good luck!

Yep call up the LSM office or email the academic advisor with some questions to show interest, ask about the program, etc. Find out more about how the program is designed and what students are supposed to get out of it. Make sure it matches your interests and then write truthfully about what combining business and science means to you in your LSM essay. Good luck!

Do you guys know if this program is crazy competitive and if applying ED enhance my chances of admission into it?

Also, regarding whether I should submit my work to Siemens. The reason I am “iffy” about doing that is because all I really have done is run a ton of PCRs and Gels. So ya, I just genome the rats for the professor…lol ya I know not too amazing. However, would I even be allowed to submit the research done on those rats?

If you killed any rats, then no you are not allowed, same goes for Science Fair.

The man gives great advice :)

From my own experience, I’d have to say that demonstrating interest and writing a honest essay like theoneo was talking about was the thing that really helped me. I know that’s pretty vague, but I think theoneo covered it pretty well.

As for how competitive it is, I’ve heard that from most difficult it’s these combined degree programs (as in LSM), then Wharton, then CAS, then Nursing.

Ok, so say I applied ED to Penn LSM. If I was denied from this program, would they consider me for CAS. Additionally, if they do consider me for CAS and accept me, will I still be forced to attend Penn? Because currently, I am planning to apply SCEA to Yale. However, if applying ED 2 Penn will enhance my chances of admittance there, I would gladly do that.

I think you can choose not to be considered for CAS or wharton if you apply ED, but I’m not completely sure.

yeah it’s binding if you don’t get into the program and are accepted CAS ED

You select to try to get into Wharton ED too.
