LMU is one of my favorite schools, so I would really appreciate some opinions on my chances.

What major are you looking at?

I think you should not have a problem getting in, but that being said I would look into raising your GPA, and SAT to cement your acceptance. It also depends on the major, and the quality of your essay.

If you have any questions you can PM me. I have several friends who go there, and will probably be there in the fall.

Good luck!

Crap, if anything, to me, you seem overqualified. You know that only 2% of LMU's applicant pool are actually in the top 10% rank?

That is such a sad statistic. I sat in on two classes last Tuesday, and was shocked at the lack of ANY intellectual climate at all. That being said I also think that if you are a top student and head over to LMU the resources are there for you. It is definitely possible to work the "big fish in a small pond" aspect. I feel like LMU is a continuation of high school, with the Greeks ruling the school, but I also think that if you don't get sucked into the "scene" it can be a great experience.

Wait, are you saying that the classes are unchallenging?

I didn't feel that the classes were difficult. I think that the professor was clearly devoted to his subject matter, but that the students were simple minded in their responses to his thought provoking questions.

My friend told me that these were not his favorite classes, and that he has others that challenge him much more. I think a lot of these people were simply taking the class to fufill a requirement, and were banking on the fact that it was an easy A.

The upper division classes all look really interesting, and there are professors who WILL challenge you. That is why I decided to attend LMU in the fall...
The resources are there for a stellar education, but you need to make sure that you utilize them. I would suggest that everyone sit in on a class or two if they have the opportunity to do so. Everyone will have a different experience, and what might be easy to me may be very difficult for somebody else.

I think it's a good move to take the SATs again but the number of extracurriculars and AP classes help your chances. Your GPA is also inline with the average Depending on your major you seem like a likely candidate for admission. Good luck!

^^Thanks

I'm really hoping to get into LMU, because I'm expecting a Miami rejection letter. I would also love to go to UCSB, but that probably won't happen either. But I would be so happy if I got into LMU, because it is the perfect school for me.

When I estimate my chances their avg gpa is a 3.6, and they have an 1165 SAT avg. So I'm hoping to bring mine up to at least a 1200, to solidify a spot at LMU.

RedRaider Baz - Are you a current student at LMU?

Sorry i just got this message. I am a current student but not for film, which seems to be a hot major. Hope you got in and are ready to have a great time!

Is it too late to apply for LMU this year?
