I am trying to get into Louisville as a transfer. In high school I had a 2.5 GPA, 1100 SATs, managed my high schools basketball team and did some charity work. At the college I'm at now, I have a 1.7 GPA, Head of public relations for a club, was a DJ for the radio station and also managed the men's basketball team. I want to get into Louisville's communication program and they are asking for a 2.0 GPA. Do you think I have a shot of getting in?

Louisville is a typical large, public university in that they largely stick to formulas for admissions decisions. If your GPA is 1.7, you are unlikely to be admitted to any of their colleges. The GPA requirements are pretty clear here:

[Transfer Student GPA Requirement ? Office of Admissions](http://louisville.edu/admissions/apply/transfer/transfer-student-gpa-requirement)

It looks like you might be able to petition for admission to the College of Education since your GPA is below 2.0, but I would not get my hopes up too high. All the other colleges look like auto-rejects for you.

As a father, I would ask you why you are struggling so much with your academic work and whether it might be more prudent to take some time to explore other life choices.
