I’m instate with a similar GPA, and relatively high test scores for an instate student (1410/2080) , and I’m still nervous. Your test scores are significantly higher than mine, but your also OSS. I’d say you have a fair shot, but by no means are you definitely in.

lol gpa will kill you.

Also, are you an Eagle Scout?

I think you have a chance. They are likely to look at the individual class grades that went into your GPA and the Major you are applying for. Good Luck - keep up the great work.

My major was Undecided so that will probably hurt me of course lol.
@tony. I’m Life right now working on Eagle because I have a June birthday

^they don’t consider your major - it’s only used to assign advisors for students who end up attending. All freshman go into the general college and for example, if you were a business major, you would apply to Kenan-Flagler your sophomore year.

Yes, the official line from UNC, and most universities, is that major choice does not effect admissions. However, in certain cases when they are trying to fill an unpopular department admissions will give a bump to a borderline candidate if they have a certain major. Having undecided won’t harm him, but declaring a major cold have helped a bit. There is a ask the dean question about this on the main site, not specific to UNC, but in general.

It may affect you at some universities, like NC State for example, all admissions are through the department your interested in majoring in. UNC does NOT operate under those conditions though, even with unpopular majors. I cannot speak on how other universities deal with majors specifically, but I can tell you for a fact that having a undecided major will not matter at UNC, and declaring one would not increase your chances either. What I stated earlier about assigning advisors is the only use for it.

That’s good to hear actually, thanks guys. Indecisiveness FTW
