Chances for McCombs

Hi, I am currently at a community college, and I will be (hopefully) transferring to UT next fall. Currently I have a 4.0 in Govt 1 and 2, Hist 1, Econ 1, Calc 1, and Acct 1. Next semester (at the community college), I'll be taking Hist 2, Biol 2, Calc 2, Acct 2, and Econ 2 (probably be a 4.0 as well). I have some decent ECs, essays, and recommendations. What else can I do to improve my odds at getting into Mccombs? Do they only care about GPA? Please, I really need this help...

Can you talk to an advisor at McCombs and ask them to evaluate your transcripts and schedule for next semester to make sure everything will transfer?

So far, all of those look like they will transfer. I’m in High school right now going to ACC as well, and have 27 creds right now just in High school from ACC. I don’t want 30 creds tho because then I am considered a transfer, which is harder because I have my rank/sat as auto admit.
Besides that, those all should transfer as I’ve pretty much taken most of them/the curriculum is pretty much all those classes. If you have a 4.0 GPA, plus Calc 1, Calc 2, Micro and Macro economics down, thats pretty much a good guarantee for Business.

Eaglemom: I already talked to them (but I will again because I’ve gotten pretty paranoid - they open back up in early January) and they said that I can finish the required courses (Econ and Calc 1 and 2) by the spring semester. And all those classes are towards the associates degree and on the degree plan they put out for CC student who want to do business.

Tarchas: Austin Community College? I’m at a different one (I live in a small town an hour from Houston). Are you doing business as well? So basically GPA is the only thing I need to worry about?

@JammyD: sounds to me like you have done all you can. Best wishes on a speedy and positive admissions decision!

With external transfers, GPA isn’t the only thing. A 4.0 will put you in a really good position, but make sure you write good essays, have some leadership, and some recommendations.

@Eaglemom: Thanks so much! And I hope your son gets his preferred choice!
@LonghornDan: Did you transfer in as well? Do you know anything about the MPA program/any more specific tips for admittance?

Is there anyone who was in my position, and got in? Message me!!

…bump…
