I dropped out of school at my freshmen year so the leadership thing is all on freshmen year. My school didn’t offer ap or ibs so I don’t have any of that… I’m worried about that. My common app essay is quite genuine. ( I showed it to couple of people I know who goes to top schools in the U.S. and said it was good ) I’m the first person that goes to college in the U.S. in my family and I totally forgot about the UCs… I thought the deadline was December yeah I’m an idiot… Got rejected from Brown ED and I don’t know what to do cuz I was thinking about UCs after rejected… I’ll be rlly grateful if you recommend some matching schools. My intended major is communications and media.

I’m desperate for help… I’ll be really grateful :x

anyone?

“I dropped out of school at my freshmen year”

What does this mean? Did you switch schools, or were you home schooled, or something else? How can you be 18 of 258 if you dropped out?

Can you afford to be full pay? Have you run the NPC on NYU? What state or country are you from?

To me Cornell seems unlikely. Do you have match and safety schools?

Is English your first language? If not, do you have a TOEFL score?

@DadTwoGirls Um after dropping out of school I was home schooled and took the hs graduation qualification exam. The rank is my freshmen year. I’m from South Korea so I didn’t had any opportunities for programs at the US. I was thinking UC irvine as my safety school but as you see it’s unavailable now…

@DadTwoGirls English is not my first language and I took the toefl. it was somewhere between 110-115

I don’t think that UC Irvine would have been a safety school anyway.

Freshman year rank won’t matter much. USC and NYU are probably both reaches for you. Can you afford to be full pay with a total cost somewhere around $300,000 for four years?

@DadTwoGirls Yes I’m ok with paying full tuitions but if i can get a financial aid it’ll be good of course. Thank you for the comment. If it’s ok, can you recommend some matching school?

I had only a year to prepare for the application and I was in such a hurry. Wish I had just one more year…

Do you have grades or test results from the hs graduation qualification exam?

I think that it is very difficult to judge your chances without grades. Your SAT scores should be sufficient for a number of US and Canadian schools, but without grades it is very hard to predict your chances, and freshman year grades won’t matter much.

Of course some students do take a gap year between high school and university. However, there is still time to get your applications in at many schools. I will admit that the deadlines have passed at a few west coast US schools that I just checked, but there is still time for example at U.Oregon, UBC, and probably many other schools. Whether you could get in without grades is an issue.

Another issue is that there are thousands of universities in the US and it is very hard to suggest one or two to apply to.

@DadTwoGirls yes I got all As! I just got total 2-3 questions wrong from 6 subjects (25-28 questions per subject) thank you for the long comment. It rlly helped me.

Nyu match

Thank you!

@timeleap my “friend” last year got into Cornell with 1350 SAT and 4.0 GPA. I think you have a really good shot if your essays are good

I didn’t submit yet and maybe i have to look at the cornell essay more. Thank you!!
