Chances for me, please?

<p>Chances for Haverford, Trinity College, Vanderbilt , Vassar, and Yale pretty please!</p>

<p>African-American Female graduating 2010
College Class Year: 2014
High School: Public in NY. Offers 15 APs, of which I will have taken 4. I took all of the honors courses offered (except for language, as it does not have honors for the one I take)
~760 students in my school, and I don’t know my class size...</p>

<p>Academics:
GPA - Unweighted: 3.60
GPA - Weighted: 3.70
School doesn’t rank, but I'm in the 4th decile</p>

<p>Scores:
SAT I Math: 630
SAT I Critical Reading: 740
SAT I Writing: 690
ACT: 30
Taking SAT subject tests in the fall, and maybe retaking SAT</p>

<p>Extracurriculars: Forensic Speech (4 years), Girl Scouts (since 2nd grade), Piano (since age 3), National Honor Society (2 years), Habitat for Humanity (2 year)
Foreign Exchange to Japan (AFS) in Summer 2008 for 6 weeks
Leadership positions: School Site-Based committee, Superintendent's advisory committee, Speech team leader, Anime club leader
Volunteer/Service Work: various but solid number of hours, I guess?
Honors and Awards: States in Speech '08 & '09, Girl Scout Gold Award (expected Nov '09)</p>

<p>yale im sorry to say will not work out… all other schools are similar i would say 30%</p>

<p>Your EC’s are great, your test scores are fine, but they certainly are not helping you. Talk to your counselor (I understand it is hard in a large public high school) and see if she could personally right that you took difficult classes in order to explain your GPA. I think you have a decent shot at trinity and haverford, Vanderbilt will be a challenge but depending on your essays and other stuff it could be doable. Yale will be hard but everyone has a reach so might as well try! Good Luck,
Oh yeah and since dz1992 thought that your leadership was weak and I think that it is great, you should make sure to bring it about clearer.</p>

<p>I would not bother applying to Yale, even with your race working for you, as your SATs and GPA are just too low for serious consideration. However, I think you stand a very good chance at the rest of the schools you listed. Best of luck!</p>
