Hi so I recently finished my finals for my 1st semester for high school. However I failed my AP Calc BC final and now I have a D(66.6). My other grades are going to be CP English(A-) CP Government (B- )AP Econ (B-), AP French 4(A) AP Computer Science (A-). I’m concerned my D in Calculus may deny me admission to colleges like Cal Poly. I have already submitted my college apps and my information is already in. I have a total GPA of 3.63 weighted and 3.39 non weighted and my SAT was 1390 for the new SAT. My EC’s are pretty good with 3 years in Key Club and 4 years varsity swim. I’ve already made up my mind however that my poor math grades especially the D I have now in Calc may affect my admissions to any UC. My mom says that the D will also deny me into any Cal State too and I’ll have to go to CC. If anybody could let me know the degree to how the D in Calc will affect my chances please let me know cause I’m kinda panicking. Also BTW this is my first D in any grade and tbh my math grades have never been above a B in high school. If you have any questions please ask so I can clarify. Thanks.
For the UC’s, the provisional admission contract states a 3.0 unweighted GPA for UCLA/UCB or a 3.0 weighted GPA for all of the rest of the UC’s. D’s or F’s are reasons for rescinding your acceptance. You need to contact the UC’s if you end up with a D or F and it will be up to them how to proceed.
Freshmen: If you change schools, add or drop a course, or fail to earn a C or better in a course after you submit your application, you must notify the UC Application Center by email or postal mail. Your correspondence must include your name, UC Application ID number and your signature (if you mail a letter), and will be available to all the campuses to which you applied.
If you receive an offer of admission, be sure to confirm with the campus admission office that they are aware of the deficient grade or schedule changes. Although you must notify the campus of these changes, we cannot guarantee that a campus can go back to review an application after correspondence has been received. Make sure to save a copy of your correspondence just in case.

Some CSU’s will also rescind for a D Senior year so you will also need to contact each CSU to see what your options are.
This is from the SDSU website:
Your admission may be rescinded for reasons such as the following:
-your GPA, test scores or course grades are lower than what you reported on the application.
-you miss any admission deadlines.
-you earn D or F grades in any coursework (not just a–g courses) taken during your senior year.
-you misreported or did not complete a required course.
From Cal Poly website:
All offers of admission are provisional and subject to verification based on a review of your final official transcripts. Admission offers may be withdrawn if your GPA,number of completed courses, or course grades are lower than what is reported on your application or if you miss any required admission deadlines. Please make sure to report accurate information on your application!
Regardless, you need to contact the CSU’s and UC’s to figure out what your is your next step.
Thanks, I’ll contact my colleges and ask about it.
