School: Stern

how about some specific stats please...rank number.....SAT IIs and SAT I if you've taken it.....APs?.....hooks? bilingual? i need more....no offense...i'm being honest...nothing stands out too much, maybe your volunteer work....idk about putting ticket collector at movie theater down on an app, i dont think it helps in anyway...it's immaterial....don't think i'm being harsh...i'm being honest....Stern isnt a cupcake

one year's work experience is very valuable, put any work/comm. service/ec's on your app...doesn't matter what it is...(unless of course it's illegal :) haha)

I have IB classes with a few AP. I am trilingual.
and no, I do not work illegally :)

yeah, believe me...it doesn't help....usher isnt a standout position for Stern, completely overlooked by adcoms...as i said...immaterial....are you an authority lindsey? did you get into stern?
anyway....trilingual an amazing plus on your app...good for you excel....but we gotta see SAT IIs and SATs.... but from what i see....i pretty decent chance....pending the SATs...

Do I have to send in the SATs? ...they we about the same conversion as the ACT. SAT2's are pending. I am really good at math so you can expect to see my score in the 700s

I would like to also add that I will be applying RD.

My church band went to india to play in front of India's President and prime minister for an opening of a place similar to the Taj Mahal www.akshardham.com. I dont know if that would be a hook

yea...definitely something to let adcoms know....and SATs are generally preferred....well....not necessarily but they are the norm....and 2 SAT IIs are required....

i would say you have a 90% chance from what i see....what other schools are u applying for admission?

UT-Austin (McCombs)
U Michigan Ann Arbor (Ross) I already sent the app. rolling admissions
Southern Methodist University (Cox) EA
Penn (Wharton) ED. (I am just taking a chance.)

I was wanting to take the subject tests at the end of my senior year becuase I think I eoulfd be better prepared but will they accept that? Can I just tell them the date I will take the sat2 or do I have to take it before the RD deadline?

yeaaaaaa UT-Austin (that was my safety school)...but the dorm I applied to wouldn't refund my "refundable" deposit, so i have a bit of resentment, haha

Your test scores need to be in before the deadline, so you need to take them this fall/winter (I had the same problem...wanted to take my ACT over again because I got a great score first time, but didn't take it w/ writing so they didn't even consider it...but it was too late).

I live in Rockwall, btw, like an hour from Grapevine, I think.

Should I send my app early for RD? will that help my admissions? or does that not do anything?

i dont think it matters....but get it out of the way if you dont mind the app fees, and wanna wait on Wharton's....otherwise...get it out of the way....but i'd go over it with a guidance counselor first

what else can I do to enhance my app?

hard to say....but ur numbers have to be there...and idk about the ACT equivalents to the SAT, but the numbers gotta be there....but i'd say stress ur volunteer service and that marching band accomplishment...playing for the Indian President....stress those accomplishments....essays must be well-written....you have to stress ur community service, the fact that you're a polyglot, and your accomplishment in marching band...that'd be my best advice....what are your 2 other languages....out of curiosity

English, spanish, gujarati (indian)

well excel....idk if you've taken SAT Is...but if you have, you should give us the scores....but never put both or send both on an application, always show them your best....ACT or SAT....and i think you have a solid chance excel...

Thanks for your help....also where would I put trilingual on the app?

ummm...i'm sure somewhere early on...it asks you what languages you speak....or what your primary language is....if you learned gujarati first or about the same time as English I would put it as your first language...when adcoms see impressive scores especially on verbal from "ESL" students...they are impressed...most apps that I recall asked for the languages i speak or my primary language....and if you can see fit....try and include the fact in your essays or short answers....only if it flows....but make sure it's subtle....don't make it the focus....in reality you maybe answering their question but throwing in a useful tidbit they may have not known before....and adcoms will remember that tidbit...it makes you more interesting....adds a dimension to your app....notice i said a dimension to your app and not you...b/c unless you give them a lot to consider and dont show the full "you" it's nothing but another app....you have to enhance your app....use your ethnicity, you're a polyglot...that's not the norm.....and you have some achievements that are far from the the beaten path...emphasize your uniqueness and since your Stern....show some interest in business.....you gotta show them you're potential...

hey should I look into Haas (Berkeley)?
