Junior year: 3.7 W (4 on AP English Language, 5 on AP Statistics, 4 on AP Environmental Science, Honors Pre-calculus)</p>

<p>As far as extra curriculars, I'm a good varsity cross country/track runner. Not gonna get recruited unless I improve a lot this year which I guess is possible since I've been working hard at it, but basically I'm a good athlete at my school but not much more at this point. I take jazz band, which I am pretty serious about. I play gigs around town frequently with various jazz trios that I play in. We are actually a well-known name in town, and I plan on emphasizing my success in music in my app as well as how important it is to me. I'm in a few clubs, I helped start 2 of them, but nothing special there.</p>
<p>I've volunteered as a counselor at various local day care centers over summer, probably about 70 hours of that. I have a about 60 hours of volunteering at a community garden that grows food for the poor.</p>
<p>I had a paying job last summer at a factory where I was basically a janitor haha.</p>

<p>I was planning on not applying to the last 5 schools because I was sure they were all reaches but my parents want me to give it a shot and just hope for the best, especially since UCLA and UCB are as simple as checking a box. So what are my chances?? I know I haven't listed SAT II's, if people think I have a shot at Boston with my current stats then I'll take them in December. <p>taking sat 2s and getting good scores would help your UC application as well.</p>
<p>I don’t know too much about CA states schools other than UCB and UCLA being really difficult to get into, but I do think you’d have a good chance with those even if they are reaches.
As for BC, you most definitely have a chance. I would say it is a match school especially with your SAT scores! Michigan seems to be a match as well! good luck!</p>
<p>Thanks for these replies! I didn’t include this earlier, but it’s probably pretty important lol…while it’s true i got a 3.7 W Junior year, first semester was 4.3 W and second was 3.1 W which means I got like a 2.9 UW in that semester. Pretty shameful, I know. I won’t go in to the details about what happened but basically I was going through some stuff and that’ll be explained in the app, so how does that one semester effect my app if I still round out to a 3.7 Junior Year? Particularly to those more selective colleges…</p>
<p>4.3 weighted is really really good! I think since you explained the 2nd semester GPA you should be good. And it’ll help even more if you do exceptionally well senior year and submit 1st semester grades to show them you’re “back on your game” or whatever haha.
BTW, you should totally visit BC! I visited today and it’s absolutely beautiful! And in the case you can’t make it out to MA, it’s a beautiful campus so you probably wouldn’t end up hating it or anything haha</p>
