So i really really reallyyyyy want to go to either ucsb or uci and these are my stats:
GPA: 3.4 (uc weighted)
SAT's: 1960 (m:710, cr: 620, w: 630)
SAT 2: (horribleeeeee but i heard they dont matter so much is it true?) lit: 550 math: 600
have taken 2 ap classes, and 2 college level classes.
got about a 2.8 sophmore year and a 3.9 junior year (i talked about how serious i became about school during my junior year in my essays)
heres a twist though, I was told that it is easier for a female to get accepted to a school as an engineering major, so I applied to ucsb as an engineering major just to see.. do u think that makes a difference? if you know anything please share! (they also said that they look heavily at math sat scores and i got a 710)
thank you soooooo much! and please let me know if you know anyone who had these stats (or something like it) and got either accepted or rejected from either of these schools. thanks!

slight reach/match.

I think you have a chance. i seen many people get accepted but seen some get rejected with similar stats. I say a match or at worst slight reach.

onextreexhill:

UCI/UCSB: Slight Reach

UCI/UCSB: Slight Reach

i think you have a better chance at UCI. but assuming that you have done some stuff out of school [ecs], i'd say

UCI -- match
UCSB -- slight reach, match

UCs do really like to see improvement, it is something that they consider a lot. i don't think it's easier to be accepted into one field versus another, though. i don't know about uci, but at ucsb you are accepted to what they call a 'pre-major,' so for the first couple of years you take all of the courses you need for the major you want, and if you have the grades, they let you in.

ucsb also reccomends a math II sat and one in a science for engineering applicants, because they have a seperate college within ucsb for engineering, which is a lot more personal and of better quality.

good luck!
