Chances for MIT, CMU, Computer Science

Hello, trying to get into a top school for Comp Sci. I went to private school for 2 years and now I am homeschooling.

  • Unweighted GPA: 3.94 (First two years in private school), Straight A's (4.0) Junior Year Homeschooling
  • Class Rank: 1 out of 59 (First two years in private school)
  • Sophomore AP's: AP Chemistry (3)
  • Junior AP's: AP Calculus BC (pending, expecting 5), AP Physics 1 (Did not take test)
  • Dual Enrollment at University of Pittsburgh: Intermediate Programming with Java (A), Data Structures (A+)
  • CMU summer program: Physics I for Engineering Students, Concepts of Mathematics (pending)

Senior Year STEM classes:

  • Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra for math (maybe also Differential Equations depending on my pace)
  • Algorithm Implementation at University of Pittsburgh (3rd programming class in the progression)
  • AP Physics C: E&M
  • ACT: 35 Composite (36, 35, 35, 34)
  • SAT Math II and SAT Physics (pending)

ECs: Drumline captain, lead in musical, work part-time

What are my chances?

And any advice at all for the upcoming year?

CMU SCS admit rate is about 5%, with top academics, maybe 10-15%. There are many more pieces to an application than listed, so it’s hard to say much more. Many parts of the process can’t be quantified/documented, so any numbers you get here are very high level guesses.
