Chances for MIT, HYP, and safety suggestions?

I have just finished my sophomore year and i am preparing for college apps. If a put prospective next to any of the info, it means i highly expect this.

GPA: 4.00 (prospective)
Class Rank: 1 out of 300, this is my current standing and most likely will stay this way
SAT: 2250 (800 M, 730 CR, 720 W)
Regarding SAT, i took it for the first time this May without studying, so i think i can break 2300
ACT: 34 (again, i think i can improve this during spring of junior year)
SAT Subject tests: Math II 800, Chemistry 800, i'm going to take Physics and Bio next year, i'm expecting 800 on Physics and 750+ on Bio
APs that i will have taken (i place scores next to those i've already taken): AP Physics B (5), AP Chem (5), AP Physics C , AP Calc BC, AP US, AP Bio, AP Spanish, AP Stats, AP Physics E&M, AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science, AP English

Extracurriculars

Sports - 1 year JV tennis (freshman year), 3 years varsity tennis
Clubs - Science Olympiad (4 years, Captain Junior and senior year), Math Team (4 years Captain Junior and Senior year), Scholastic Bowl (2 years), WYSE (3 years)
Other Clubs and Organizations - Spanish Honors Society, National Honors Society, Spanish Club

Awards and Recognitions (Up until now)

Science Olympiad - In my 2 years thus far, i've gotten 6 Regional Medals, and 4 State medals
Math Team - At state geometry, i got 2nd place this year. Also numerous 1st place medals at local, smaller competitions
WYSE - 2 Medals at Sectionals, 1 medal at state (this is my first year)
Bausch and Lomb Science Award for Juniors (i'm certain i'll win it next year)

The meat of my application

I love math and physics with a passion. I was very close to qualifying for USAJMO this year, and i am working very hard with hopes of qualifying for USAPhO and MOP next year. I am also currently part of a volunteer math research internship, for which i will be working this summer. I will be researching a writing lectures/papers on my findings.

I realize that it's a little early for chancing, but i want a better understanding of where i stand and what i should be aiming for.

So, what are my chances for HYP, MIT, Berkley and Caltech

Also, any Safety suggestions for engineering schools?

All very high reaches because nothing stands out. Also, junior year can be a huge game-changer, so you should just focus on school next year and come back towards the end of the school year.

Nothing stands out? MOP doesn’t stand out?

Do we all need to start companies nowadays?

Lol, even that has become a cliche nowadays.

College confidential is incredibly shortsighted sometimes; many top applicants ask for chances here and are disappointed with the replies… I think you have a good chance- I know a few people that have gotten into some of these schools with around the same stats. But you’re a sophomore so it’s not even close to over yet.

Yeah like I said, focus on junior year because it’s a real beyotch.

It’s pointless to ask now b/c junior year is the most important year and will alter your chances. I mean, we’re talking about HYPM … I wouldn’t underestimate how hard it is to get in.

Come back in a year and tell us if you make it! I’m more or less doing the exact same thing as you, and whether you actually end up succeeding at USAMO/USAPhO/your internship is the most important factor IMO.

Math is amazing, but unfortunately not that well known to people here. You can’t be impressed by something if you don’t know what it is! Luckily adcoms know much more than these guys.

Thanks for all your opinions, and i totally understand what you mean conquerer7! Also, i’m sorry if i sounded cocky or arrogant, it’s just i get frustrated sometimes with how erratic admissions is at these top schools. Friends of mine who were over-qualified geniuses have been rejected while others who are just average high school students get in. Granted, i’m sure they worked hard, but it all seems so strange :/

MIT and other engineering schools would love you considering how strong your focus in math and phys is. I’m from a South Asian School that have sent 2 students to Caltech and 1 to MIT in the last 5 years and all 3 went to IMO and one went to IPhO

As for HYP its difficult to predict at times but if you show passion and focus through your application and essays it wouldn’t be too hard for you

Your safeties could Lawrence Tech WPI OSU ASU etc though I’m not sure about them
