I’d say you are a shoo in for RD - good luck!

Thanks…but how do my chances look for the murray scholarship = D?

WOW. Your stats are definitely impressive! I’m worried about getting in but you shouldn’t be worried at ALL. I think you are pretty solid.

Only 2 things

  1. I don’t know your course list so how many APs/IBs/Honors/Advanced classed did you take? I’m assuming you took a lot but it would be nice to know
2)You’re OOS. While this decreases your chances slightly, I can say that being from Nebraska actually makes you geographically diverse as opposed to someone applying from New York or MA or MD or something.

So…um all in all, you should definitely get it. However, your competition is also going to be pretty impressive so as long as you seem very unique, you are a shoe in!

To answer your question about Murray - I truthfully have no idea. The one Murray prospective I met had an SAT of 2390 and had won quite a few state competitions, like you. So in that sense, you definitely seem to be in the competition.

Good luck!

Murray Scholars are extremely competitive… here’s the info on the selection process:
[William & Mary - Selection Information](http://www.wm.edu/as/murrayscholars/selectioninfo/index.php)

Here are the bios of the current students, but it doesn’t have their high school resumes (it actually has a little of the high school resumes for the 2013 group):
[William & Mary - Current Murray Scholars](http://www.wm.edu/as/murrayscholars/current/index.php)

I think you would be competitive. Just remember that there are only 4, so realistically, the odds are stacked against you.

Unfortunately only 4 Murray Scholars are named each year. The good news is that everyone who applies to W&M is considered for the Murray Scholarship. The Admission Committee nominates certain students to be considered for the scholarship. Those students are then contacted and asked to write an additional essay for review. From that group about 20 finalists are invited to campus for a weekend in March/April and from there the finalists are chosen.

Likewise, all applicants are also considered for the Monroe Scholar Program which is W&M’s Honor Program. About the top 5% of the incoming class is selected for that program each admission cycle.

Good luck!

Do any of you know if international students are eligible to be Murray Scholars?
