What school does he go to?? Detroit Country Day, Andover, Okemos, Ann Arbor Pioneer>.???

Probably Detroit Country Day. I mean, heck, I got an 11 on the MMPC...Alan Huang got like, a 39 or 40.

Whoa whoa whoa....
DCDS got ***PWNT by THS in every single aspect of math last year. Period. Haha, no offense to DCD of course...
And yeah, Alan got a very impressive score this year.

μ I think I know this person is. :) he.

Wow this kid has no chance in the world. I hope he isn't putting all his eggs in thr HYPSMIT basket.
He'll probably do better at some community college. I mean, his ECs are average at best and SATs are dismayal. A 2340? Thats 60 points off man. He needs to retake that if he even wants to shoot for a Third Tier college.

Note sarcasm.

^^^these kind of jokes are older than the "chuck norris" ones, and thats saying something.

does he play counter-strike?

teach me ASP.NET!
~~
```~~~
I'd say that he has a better than average shot at all the above schools. I would kill for his stats.
some people are shoo ins to even harvard. I know 2 of them who got into every college they applied.
His test scores, grades, and courseload are fantastic of course. But beyond that, he has only some praiseworthy math/science accomplishments and the rest of his profile is just fluff and doesn't add much to his image. A USAMO qualification would pretty much trump everything math/science related this THS kid has done in his life and even USAMO/MOSP/IMO tend to get rejected from places like HYPS in large numbers. Furthermore, he has virtually no leaderhip in any of his extracurriculars so that will definitely hurt. If his rec letters and essay will be as good as you claim they will be, they should be enough to balance the extracurriculars out. Troy High School has a very good relationship with the top Ivies so he stands a very good chance of getting into at least some of these top schools if he's among the best at Troy this year but that said, there's nothing in his profile that indicates to me that he's a "clear admit".
Hmmm...you sound like you've went to Troy High...your sn sounds familiar atleast...owell.
I have a question though...you said he has no leadership things, does presidency fo 2 clubs not count? If not, what would be considered leadership?
And btw, I thought USNCO and USABO were the Chemistry and Biology equivalents of USAMO? So I was under the impression that he did something like...make two USAMO's...
Anyways...yeah, he asked me to delete this after 4 days...he said it felt too much like showing off...Of course, I can't delete it or even edit it, so I was hoping it would just die out. So uh...yeah, please let this just float to the last page...
is TRoy high school is CA? or in michigan
The guy was on the chess club only freshman year. What a looooooooser.
Michigan Troy High....we always get overlooked for the CA one. Well, w/e, doesn't matter.
Btw, I was in Chess club for one day. ;)
Troy High MI owns.
USNCO and USABO are like... making the national exam round. For Chemistry, about 900 kids take the exam, so making it is not that prestigious. The main reason is because the AMCs are much more well-known and (in my opinion, difficult) than the other science subject olympiads. So to answer your question, no USNCO and USABO qualifier is not equivalent to making USAMO twice. Btw, ask him if he made Top 50 (High honors) or Top 150 (Honors) for the USNCO exam.
Anyways, last year, over 400 people made USAMO with the expansion, so it is indeed a bit unfortunate he was unable to qualify, as it would have really demonstrated his talent in mathematics. Nonetheless, what's good is that he seems to have TONS of other amazing stuff. , he is clearly a very strong applicant, and should be able to get into at least one of one of his top choices. What makes him appealing should be all those research papers he wrote and maybe that thing he was accepted to (one of only 3 HS students). Those are the things on his application that really impress me. A lot of the awards you listed are regional, and I don't think he'll have to list all of them for schools like MIT, especially.
oh, lol, we argue all the time about which of the four Olympiads is hardest to get into. Apparently USAPHO accepts less than USAMO. I still think the AIME is a much better qualification test though.
Yeah, USAPhO is pretty tough. However, a lot less people take the USAPhO opening exam as compared to the AIME. I also believe that the AIME is a much better test. =)
lol how do u kno all this about ur friend? or did he give u his resume lol
