If you think I should add any or if I am overlooking anything then let me Know!!

UChicago and CMU are reaches, while you have very good chances to make all the other ones, given that you are African and your ECs are very good

@comploadite would you might organizing it by like reach safety and target? Thanks!

Yeah sure, sorry about that I’m new to this. UChicago and CMU are reaches, UMich, Georgia Tech, UIUC, NYU, Tulane, and Lehigh should be matches, CWRU, SUNY, and UMN are safeties (someone please correct me if I’m misinformed)

^^

CWRU is not really ever a safety and is very sensitive about being used as such. They do take demonstrated interest into consideration, so it is good the OP has visited and OP should continue showing interest.

We’ve seen odd admissions patterns there - our HS Salutatorian (a few years back) was waitlisted at CWRU. He ended up at an Ivy.

I agree with the aforementioned list. You should definitely look into the essays for these schools and start getting a few done. I know some colleges, like UMich, already released their prompts. Having good essays could help make those reaches more likely. You should also note that UChicago likes very high test scores so if you are all in for UChicago, then try to raise you score to past 1450. Good luck!

@“Dhaval G” in all honesty, I’m not trying to get into my reach schools. Is it possibly for you to organize them into safety, reach, and target? Thanks!

@collegeguru2017
Very High Reach- UChicago (as mentioned, improving your SAT is your best shot at increasing your chance)
High Reach- Carnegie Mellon (Not sure how legacy will affect your chances but if they really like it, then it increases your chance)
High Match- Georgia Tech, NYU, UIUC, and Lehigh (Georgia Tech is not friendly for OOS so it might be even harder to get in. Although you should do research on GT and OOS).
Match- UMich, Tulane, and Case Western
Safeties- University of Minnesota- Twin Cities and SUNY

PLEASE TAKE ALL OF THE ESSAYS REALLY SERIOUSLY. Even though you rank high in their admissions, doesn’t mean they won’t reject you because of crappy essays. Essays can be the difference between going to a safety and a high match (maybe even a reach).

BUMP -sorry

I think uchicago and cmu are reaches. NYU is good shot but probably no merit aid. Being female helps with Georgia tech and all other schools I think you have a really good shot. Definitely right around average with Lehigh and Tulane. Good luck

Carnegie Mellon - reach
University of Michigan - high match
CWRU - match
NYU - high match
Tulane - match
Lehigh - high match
Georgia Tech - match
