Hey! I’m a rising high school senior (2016-17 school year) and I’m planning to apply to 6 - 8 universities: 2 in the US and 8 abroad. My plan is to go to med school and eventually become a pediatrician, so any majors in Biology, Medicine, Medical Science, etc. are what I’m going for. I’m planning to take 3 SAT II’s in October: Biology, Math 1, and either MAth 2 or Chemistry
US Schools (my back ups b/c abroad is my priority): University of Pittsburgh, VCU
Canada: York University, University of British Columbia (UBC)
UK: Newcastle University, University of Manchester
Australia: University of Sydney, University of New South Wales (UNSW)
GPA Unweighted - 3.7
SAT (New - 1600) - 1250
Model UN - 2 Years & JV Letter
Astronomy Club - Possible VP (this school year)
Charity for Medicine Club - 3 Years (including this year)
National Honor Society Member - 2 Years (including this year)
French National Honor Society Member - 2 Years (including this year)
Volunteering - 3 Years feeding homeless in St. Matthews Cathedral in D.C, planning to apply for volunteer opportunities at local hospital
2 Solid Recommendation Letters
In my freshman year of high school, I took all the honors classes I could and ended the year with a 3.84 GPA (unweighted) overall. My sophomore year was a hot mess (a lot of stuff happened that year, not so good). Although I took my first AP, AP Euro, I ended the year with a 3.6 but got a 4 on the AP Exam. I managed to pull myself back together my junior year, taking AP Biology and ending it with a 3.7 GPA (got a 2 on the AP Exam though :). I’m taking all honors and AP my senior year, my AP classes being AP Psych, AP Calc AB, and AP Gov & Politics. (I was planning to add in AP Chemistry and AP Human Geography but the courses couldn’t fit in my schedule, and my school wasn’t offering AP Chem this year (wth!))
Do I have a chance with any of these schools?
