chances for next fall?

OOS (vermont)

GPA: 3.7 UW
My school doesn't weight our gpas, but i've taken a LOT of honors classes, in two aps right now and have 5 next year.

Test Scores:
1950 sats

Classes:
As I said, lots of honors and aps.
My aps this year are lang and apush. Next year I have ap bio, ap french, ap calc, ap stats and ap lit.
Also, I started out in French II as a freshman and will complete French V by the end of high school. Only one other girl in my grade will also complete French V. It's pretty unheard of here.

Extracurriculars:
Yearbook (hopeful editor for next year)
Foreign Language Club (Vice Pres)
A World of Difference (a group that educates freshmen at school about prejudice and racism. also helps them ease into high school)
Buddy Program (a group that helps with all different types of freshman orientations (summer orientation, open houses, etc))
Reach Out (community service group)
JV Softball Manager (sophomore year), Varsity this year and next year
Volunteer at the local animal shelter
Also, a hopeful NHS member at the end of this year. Crossing my fingers!

Other info:
First-generation college student, lived overseas for 4 years in Ireland (don't really know how this would ever come to the attention of admissions, though)

actually, i just did a rough conversion to a weighted gpa and i think i’d have a 4.3? something like that. upward trend, too

It’s difficult to say “YES!!!” with any “chance me”, especially since UNC admits such a small number of OOS applicants. Apply for deadline I and I’d say your chances would be good.

My one bit of advice would be to consider retaking the SAT and trying to score over 2000, but I wouldn’t say that if I didn’t think that you were capable of it. With how you’ve discussed your academic record, I think that it looks more than possible. If the SAT hasn’t been your thing, maybe you’d score well on the ACT with writing.

As for the Ireland thing, you could mention it in an essay if you’d like. Any college loves to hear about diversity and the uniqueness of an applicant. It shows what you bring to campus that no other student could.

Other than that, rock the rest of high school and good luck! :)

yeah, the sats were iffy so i’m definitely going to try the acts soon! thank you for the advice! :)
