Hello Everyone... I'm about to be a senior next fall and would just like some feedback to see how I stack up when applying to UF.
Unweighted GPA: 3.98
Weighted GPA (UF recalculated): 4.4
SAT: 1660
ACT: 27
Rigious Senior Schedule

Legacy
1300 Volunteer Hours
-Volunteered at the hospital in as many places as possible: ICU, Sleep Lab, Radiology, Women's Health Clinic, Financial Assistance Office, Floor Services, Front Desk, Rehab and ER.
-Roofed houses for two different summers in Savannah, GA
-Painted houses in Birmingham, Alabama and Gifford, Florida
-Raised over 2,000 dollars for world hunger myself through World Vision
-Served at local homeless shelter by serving food
-Went to Jamaica in the summer after freshman year to build houses, work at a nursing home and have a camp for the kids
-Went to Haiti during Spring Break of junior year to build houses, help children, teach English and many more things
- Very active at church by volunteering at many events, singing in choir and leading a girls retreat

One thing that is unique about my situation is that for my freshman and sophomore I went to a small private school. They did not offer AP at this school but I did take the highest level of classes possible at this school. I switched to public school for my junior and senior year in order to take more rigorous classes and have better opportunities. I don't know exactly how this will affect me or if it will at all.

Any feedback is great! Thanks!

As to your post about the chance for admission to UF, make sure that your prior school when they send your transcript includes a profile statement indicating the number of students at the school, courses offered and grading criteria. That will help the UF Admission’s Office place your grades and course work into proper context. If it is possible, I would try to take dual enrollment courses at a community college to demonstrate to UF your performance ability with college-level work. The big issue with your posted stats is SAT scores. The average stats for admitted students for the Class of 2017 at UF was: GPA:4.30, SAT:1967 and ACT:30.

Good Luck

I think you have an excellent chance…my grades about the same…ranked in top 3%…my test scores were a tad lower and I got in class of 2017…write a great essay…and good luck!!!
BTW…I only took AP junior and senior year…6 total and no dual enrollment

GPA, Class Ranking, EC and Essay appear to hold more weight than the test scores

UF does place more weight on GPA/Rigor than on Test Scores, though it’s still a primary item. GPA/Class Rigor/Test Scores make up 50% of your admin “score”.

EC/Leadership/Essay(and legacy, to a much lesser degree) make up 50% of your admission “score”, so that can also help make up for the low SAT.

Still, I would recommend re-taking the ACT or/and SAT in the fall. Your essay will be important, but I’m sure you have a great story to tell!

Good Luck!

Your test scores could be better but you still have a great chance of getting in because everything else is steller and UF has a holistic style of admissions. As long as you took as many rigorous courses that you could at the previous school then you will be fine. They can base the courses you took on what is offered at your school.
are you planning on applying for summer b or fall?

Well I would prefer to go in the Fall but if summer B is easier to get into maybe I will aim for that. Would it make a difference which term I apply for?

Applying for Summer B doesn’t increase your chances over Fall. Here’s the info copied directly from the UF Admissions page:

“Summer B is no different from fall in terms of competition, as all freshman applicants are evaluated as a class. There is no distinction between terms, so there is no admission advantage or disadvantage to choosing summer or fall entry.”

[University of Florida - Admissions](Freshman - How To Apply - University of Florida)

Also, make sure you THOROUGHLY research the Innovation Academy before you apply. They’ll ask you if you want to be considered for it. Some students choose it thinking it gives them a leg up on the competition. It heavily restricts your choice of majors available, and you are permanently restricted from taking classes on campus in Fall for your entire time at UF. If you say yes without realizing the ramifications, you may be stuck going through it, and it’s not a great choice for everyone.
