chances for next year

Hi, I'm a junior in a Minnesota high school right now and I'd like to apply to the U to the CLA.

In-state

3.52 UW GPA

23 ACT

top 25% in class

Some honors classes, one AP class

4 years of spanish

200 volunteer hours at Salvation Army

National Honors Society

Went to the State Science Fair

Varsity track

Part-time job at Target

Selected for Medical Explorers (program organized by highly-respected Mayo Clinic)

I was wondering if you guys could tell me how my chances are looking and if there are any things that I should try to work on.

Thanks.

can you retake your ACT?. .. the higher the better.. and statistically 1 out 2 do better the second time they take it.. also.. keep working on the GPA!

If you apply in September you will get in... You seem about average with grades, but you have a lot of activities. Just don't make the mistake of waiting later to apply.. APPLY ASAP

I would advise you to study for and retake the ACT. You can look at the freshman profile here ( http://admissions.tc.umn.edu/Academics/profile.html ) and the average act for cla is 25.8. Other than that, it is definately beneficial to apply as early as possible since the U has rolling admissions.
