Going on my English teacher’s recent suggestion that I check out the Ivy that’s more suited for “my type,” I thought I’d ask for chances. I’ve been looking around the school website, doing a bit of research, and I really like the idea of the school. So, here goes nothing:

Objective:

SAT I (breakdown): CR (800) Math (770), Wr (800)

ACT: Not submitted

Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.72

Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): about 20-40/500

AP (place score in parenthesis): World History (5), Biology (5), Italian, English Language, English Literature, Chemistry, French, Calculus BC, US History, European History

IB (place score in parenthesis): None

Junior Year Course Load: AP Italian (never took any Italian beforehand, studied on my own to qualify for the course), AP English Language, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC, AP US History

Senior Year Course Load: AP English Literature, Honors Physics, Multivariable Calculus/Linear Algebra, AP European History

Subjective:

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Debate Club (President/Founder, now one of the largest clubs in the school, significant time commitment), Drama Club (Actor, possible future president, significant time commitment), Drama Club’s Alumni Magazine (Head Writer), Macbeth Festival (Head Writer), Advanced student of a martial art, Guitar (10 years, now teach for a little extra money)

Job/Work Experience: Give guitar lessons to small children, teaching French

Volunteer/Community service: After-school tutor, tour guide for FDRoosevelt home (LOTS of hours), wrote original music for elementary school play, pronouncer for elementary school spelling bee, play guitar at various formal events

Summer Activities: Worked as a live-in student for my martial arts dojo during the summer, may study acting this summer

Essays: Writing is what I’m best at, so I’m confident these will be good; will discuss debate club and the journey of making it a success.

Teacher Recommendation: One from my English teacher raving about how I am by far her top student in 35 years, one from my calculus teacher about my dedication and endurance. These will be what gets me in, if anything: both of them will attest to how “involved” and how much of a “leader” I am.

Counselor Rec: Very favorable, he said he’ll explain the discrepancy between the grades and everything else as due to the fact that I’ve been “ready for college since freshman year/”

Interview: I come across very well in interviews

Other
