.......

Penn - slight reach
harvard - reach
others - match

First of all, I'M CZECH! My parents are from the Czech Republic and I have family all over the place over there (Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine). So congrats on being a cool Eastern European, first of all!

Penn- I know someone who was admitted to the Wharton School of Business with a 1430 on the old test. He was #2 in a class of about 400 at a solid public school in PA

Harvard- Good Luck. Harvard is such a difficult school to get into in general. You're definitely a solid student- not much more you can do at this point. You could take the SATs again, but I don't think you have much room to improve. You have as good of a chance as anyone!

Tufts- I think you would have a good chance to get in there. It's an excellent school, great research opportunities, etc.

Brandeis- Again, a great school. I think you'd have a good chance

NYU- I'd say you're set.
BC- Ditto
BU- DEFINITELY set.

If you are looking to attend school in a major city, I would also suggest Georgetown. Washington would afford you many internship opportunities. Many people think of Georgetown and think of the Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service, which is first-rate. However, they are great for econ, also.

If you aren't opposed to non-city schools, you would definitely get into Lehigh University, in Bethlahem, PA. They have a good business/econ program, as well. Not as prestigious as an Ivy, but a nice school. The University of Virginia also has a fabulous school of commerce. I would recommend UVA to anyone- it is difficult to get into out of state, but with your stats, I think you'd be fine. UVA has a great alumni network, so getting internships/jobs would be a piece of cake.

Good luck! I hope I helped...I have looked at 23 schools, as a prospective poli sci/int'l relations/int'l business major. If you have any questions or want any other perspectives, just private message or instant message (my screename is in my profile) me. I'd love to help :)

as Salt and Peppa' would say: "Bump it... bump it real good",
LF61 really summarizes my situation and I appreciate the post by Czech. Any ideas O' Smart CC-ers?

Penn- Accepted
Harvard- Rejected
Tufts- Accepted
Brandeis- Accepted
NYU- Accepted
BC- Full Ride
BU- Full ride

have you considered Chicago, Stanford (CA IS HAWT!) or MIT?

Definately got a shot at Harvard but I would say you got a rather bigger chance of being rejected than accepted.

I've definetly thought about MIT, I'll probably even apply. But by "apply to MIT" I mean that in a last ditch confuse my application with Albert Einstein way. And although I really love Northwestern/UChicago and CA schools, I'm planning on staying a bit closer to home for family reasons. Thanks, keep 'em coming!

ka dump a bump

Might take a look at Holy Cross very good school with economics major in addition to accounting major. Also HC has very good Latin program.
