I did not apply for financial aid if that makes a difference.

This is just a brief overview. Do you guys think I have a good chance?

Northeastern is a need-blind school for domestic students. Applying for/not applying for aid makes zero difference.

Oh alright. Do you think I am a good candidate for the school?

I think you’re a good candidate - you’re CR + Math sat score is very impressive. The only noticeable blemish is the GPA - the unweighted is pretty good but the weighted seems a bit low? I put a question mark because I don’t know how many AP classes your school offers, but generally a weighted GPA is significantly higher than an unweighted GPA - but only if you took and did well in numerous AP/Honors classes.

Did you get your C+ or most of your B’s in AP classes?

Ironically I always got A’s in my AP classes but I always got my B’s in level 2 math and science classes, so my weighted GPA is pretty high.

But overall I think you have a solid chance - i see no reason for you to be deferred or denied, but like we all know college admissions is a total crap shoot

Yea I got mostly Bs in honors and AP…is that going to hurt my chances by alot? I mean doesn’t it look good to take all rigorous classes?

Of course course rigor looks good, but its still important to do well in those classes.

While counselors and other undergrads will say a B in an honors class looks better than an A in a level 2 class, it’s not necessarily true.

Obviously the biggest goal is to get your GPA as high as possible - but most people find a way to get a high GPA while taking numerous honors

A 3.4 GPA is a good GPA - all Im saying is you shouldnt believe that a lower GPA with a lot of honors is a optimal trade off - you should be taking honors and AP classes that give you a good chance of getting A…but don’t worry about it; it is what it is.

I’m not saying that it’s ok to be just getting B’s. I know I could have tried harder and strived for the A, but I am going to be doing that in college. Do you think most of the people applying to Northeastern will have a higher GPA than me?

what do you think my chances are if i applied as a Physical Therapy major and my gpa is 3.9 weighted and 3.8 unweighted and sat scores are an 1800. I am also an EMT and captain of varsity soccer and softball. There are no class ranks at my school

Your SATs are sort of low but your other stats make up for it, like captain of varsity soccer and softball.

Great SAT, the average from the current freshman class is 1890-2140. The average SAT, however, is 3.7-4.2. I also have never heard, not read, of Northeastern being need-blind. I’m currently a Sophomore and one thing I can tell you is that the applicant pool has skyrocketed. But you look like a competitive candidate.

well the 3.7-4.2 is obviously weighted and my weighted GPA is a 3.7

HEY, just wondering did you get in?! thanks!!

What do you think my chances are getting accepted to Northeastern? I am going to apply to their Pharm. D program in the fall and I have a 3.91 weighted GPA and a 3.73 unweighted. My SAT reasoning score is a 1260: CR 370, M 460, WR 430. I also took the SAT II subject test in Mathematics Level 2 and earned a score of 530. I will be taking the SAT II subject test in Chemistry and ACT in October. I have participated in a lot of clubs and organizations at school, for example National Honors Society, Honor Court, College club, Bright club, Friendship club, Homework zone, Asian Student union, etc. I also do community service, I would say I have an estimated of 200+ hours volunteering at school (I tutor), in the hospital, at a daycare in the summer, church youth group.

You SAT’s will admission very unlikely if you are an American applicant. Are you an international student? If so NU does not require your SAT.

Edit: Your SAT’s will make admission…

I shouldn’t post after a long hard day at work!

Tom, maybe you should look over those scores again…they are quite low.

You (ndl1290) should read Tom’s actual post. The above was fixing a word mistake. He already said admission was unlikely.
