Chances for Northwestern Early Decision?

[SAT:] CR 710 M 780 W 710
[SAT II:] USH 800 WH 700 BIO-E 750
[APs:] USH, Enviro Sci, Lang&Comp, Micro, (As of Junior Year), Lit&Comp, WH, Psych, Comp Sci, Bio (Taking Senior Year)
[GPA:] 91/100
[Rank:] Top 40~50%
[ECs:] Decent, can't list everything out because my friends are probably here. Some awards and leadership positions
[Recs:] Somewhere between decent~good
[Weakness:] I received C's for Precalculus during my Junior year.. I'm really worried, Asian + International (But I am a US Citizen)
[Hooks:] I have double legacy @ Northwestern and I'm applying ED. Also, I'm on the Dean's Scholarship List at my school (about 3 kids per grade).
[School Type:] Private, sends grads to top schools, <90 students per grade, bottom halves occasionally make it to Cornell and NYU Stern
[Ethnicity:] Asian (International Student)

Your board scores are fine, and being a double legacy applying ED certainly helps, but the 91 GPA, mediocre class standing and C in Precalc will not make a favorable impression. That being said, I still think you have a fair shot.

your class rank is going to kill you majorily. ur gpa is mediocre. ur ap’s are awesome. u might make it in if ur recs n essays are good. u’ve got a chance b/c of early decision. good luck!!

well given that there are less than 90 students in his class, his ranking may not be as horrendous as it seems by percentile. it doesn’t rule you out as a candidate though; write fabulous essays.

thanks for the responses. my rank is a huge concern, but my school is really competitive. A 1% difference basically cuts through from rank 1 to ~15. For example, a 96 GPA would be rank 22. So… um yeah… well i’ve still got essays and doub leg! so i have something to bet on!
