What do you guys think my chances are of getting in? It would be amazing to go to NW
I generally do not reply to chance threads - especially on the NU thread… (and BTW stop using NW) but, since I have a D who is ChemE alum and a S that is a current ChemE I will make an exception. Why do I dislike chance threads? Because, if you are smart enough to get into NU - or want to go to NU - then you KNOW that only the AdCom can really answer your question, anybody else’s opinion is just wasting pixels.
OK - Lecture over. Hope you took notes, cuz this will be on the test…You have the hooks, being first gen and URM, you are close to the scores, and I like your ECs. I do NOT think you need to “add ECs”. Do ONLY what you want. But I have to ask what are you doing with your summers? (and you might address this in your app).
I also have question, since you seem to be STEM oriented, why calc AB Senior year, and not earlier? BTW - If your AP Physics is not Calc based you will get zero credit for it at NU - they only give credit for the AP Calc based Physics.
I like your writing talent- since you are applying to McCormick - it might help separate you from some of the obvious EngiNerds. (I’m allowed to say that, having two of them as kids). And both of my kids were able to also show strengths both in and outside of the STEM area. Bottom line? I’m not an adCom - but give it a shot. Good Luck!
Current CS major here. Stop trying to gauge your chances and just enjoy whatever you’re doing. Stop trying to calculate your chances. If you get in, you get in. If you don’t, you don’t. No one can really tell you your chances.
I agree with nugraddad in that chance threads are usually a waste of time.
I agree that they are a waste of time, but they are the only thing that brings solace in the waiting game. We are helpless during the time of decisions, and I guess chance threads make us feel more proactive.
stressed… I understand your position - but IMO - Kidding yourself is never good. You should be chilling out right now, not stressing out! The apps are done, the dice are tossed - it’s out of your hands, so let it go. If you are close to getting into NU - then you have had a successful HS career. Regardless of whether or not you get accepted to NU, there are hundreds of other good schools out there that would like to have you attend. So step back -relax- and life goes on. GOOD LUCK
