- Piano/Music Composition (self-taught, 4-5 years): I've not done much with this yet, but I plan to enter a few contests to try to net some scholarships.

***I was homeschooled from 1st through 10th and began public school last year. But because homeschooling is, by nature, unaccredited, placement was an issue. I tested out of what I could, but I was still placed in 10th grade, though by age I would have been in 11th. I hope to spin this in my favor for my application essays (Something about adaptability? Dedication to my education?), but the extra semester/year I will spend in high school could easily work against me.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

Good chance to all of those. Don’t slack off senior year haha!

Chance me back?

I’m a student currently at Vanderbilt, and I would say you definitely have a solid application. However, your killer SAT scores and extracurriculars do not guarantee a spot. What top their schools look for most is passion. If you can show through your essay and application that you not only excel at something but also love it, it says to the admissions officer, “I am uniquely brilliant”. I wouldn’t worry about the extra semester/year. Use it for your advantage in essays. I was homeschooled K-12, so I know how annoying it must be feeling behind. You have a lot of good things going for you, and I hope to see you on campus in a few years.

Any major awards?

I don’t see an application getting much better than this. You have an awesome chance at each of these places. You will probably get into at least one of them, but then again, take everything anybody says with a grain of salt. We aren’t the actual admissions officers lol.

Could you please take the time to chance me back? Thanks!
