Hey. I'm just curious as to what you all think about my chances of being accepted for transfer to Barnard and/or NYU.
I'm currently a freshman at a reputable liberal arts school (Sarah Lawrence). I had around a 3.7 first semester and similar midterm grades (Barnard required them). I've taken pretty challenging courses this year. I had a 1390 on the SATs, good essays, very good recs....Problem is, I had around a 2.9 GPA in high school (a competitive private school, but still not good). I had my high school send a very positive rec from my former advisor, but I'm not sure if that's going to be enough. I'm not involved in any ECs here, but I was very involved in a lot of things in high school. I know I'm sort of a longshot for both NYU and Barnard, but I was wondering if I had any chance at all or if I should just forget about it...
Thanks.

i personally dont know...but im bump-ing for you.

i'm in the exact same position although i have a little bit better hs GPA, a 3.4 (and because of all the ppl on this board who say that their private high school is amazing (not saying you are one of them) i actually looked up my school and it is the 33rd best day school in the country) and pretty good ECs (I intern for a top senator and am president of college democrats here) But your SAT score is 40 points higher than mine and my midterms were about a 3.6. so all things considered we probably are equal and i have been told by people on this board and by my college counselor from hs who i still keep in touch with that i should get in to NYU and probably barnard. especially for barnard, though, essays can really, really help and mine were pretty unique and i put a lot of time and effort into them. i hope it works out for both of us, which one would you pick over the other?
i'd go with barnard, i think....

I think I'd go with Barnard too, but I think I would also be happy at NYU. I'll just be grateful to have one of them take me. Good luck.

bump......
