Essays/Reccomendations

Essay is excellent, my English teacher said that he, "wrote his way into Stanford" an that mine was better than his.
Recommendations are also fantastic.

So if I apply ED, what do you think the end result is?
Also can you give me chances for
BU
BC
Tufts (ED 2 if rejected from NYU)
And Penn St.

Oops I made a mistake in my original post. I meant to say that my English teacher said that my essay was NEARLY as good as his, not better. Not quite sure what was going through my head

Sorry for repeatedly posting on my own thread, but class rankings were just released an well…it’s bad. I go to a very competitive public school and mine was 180/446. Does this totally kill my chances? Even though I have taken the hardest course load possible, do I have no chance now?

You probably get into NYU early decision unless you are applying to the business school. Hopefully you get in to reduce the competition to BC. :P

I think you’ve got an excellent chance at NYU, especially with early decision. With ED2 at Tufts your odds would be good, but not as good as for NYU. For BU and BC you’d have very good chances if the first two schools don’t work out. You’ll almost definitely get into Penn State. The only possible issue is the 3.58 GPA, but if you’re classload is as you’ve described it, then this shouldn’t be a real problem.

I don’t think you’ll have a problem getting in. Your greatest area of concern is that GPA, even with a tough course load, that might look a little low to the admission reps. I’d talk to your school counselor and make sure he/she makes very clear in their letter how rigorous your course load is and explain how hard you worked/how high that GPA is relative to the school etc. If your school is just really difficult, chances are the regional admissions rep will know that already. Otherwise, test scores are good, maybe try to bump up/talk up that EC list. I really don’t know Tufts well enough to chance you and Penn St. is clearly a safety.

NYU: probably in
BU: also, most likely in
BC: reach
Tufts: reach
Penn: In

Your testing us quite good & your essays sound excellent! The gpa is a bit on the lower side but colleges look at what sort of classes you are taking & if you’re pushing yourself hard enough. Good luck!
