Alright, so here's my dilemma: I completely screwed up my freshman and sophomore years of high school. My freshman year GPA is a 3.0 and my sophomore year GPA is a 2.6. I was top of my class every single year of junior high school, (which I'm aware doesn't count for anything) and received a reward for outstanding academic achievement at my JHS graduation. As soon as I hit high school, the freedom got to my head. Only towards the end of sophomore year did I realize how badly I hurt my chances of getting into one of most prestigious schools in the county. I am more than capable of achieving fantastic grades, but I slacked off like crazy. I regret it, a lot.

NYU has been my dream school for as long as I can remember. I plan on applying for NYU CAS, which I've heard is not the hardest school in NYU to get into, and hopefully majoring in English.

So here's my question: If I were to maintain a GPA of 4.0 both junior and senior year, get amazing SAT and ACT scores, write kick-ass essays, get recommendations from teachers,
and immerse myself in volunteer work and extra curricular's, could I still get into NYU CAS?

I'm not even sure they count senior year, so even if I get a 4.0 GPA junior year, my cumulative high school GPA will only be a 3.2, which is crap. Hopefully NYU will acknowledge
the great improvement, recommendations, essays etc.

Also, I'm in the Academy of Public Service (APS) at my school, which I've been told looks
fantastic on college applications, especially for schools like NYU who consider public service an important aspect in every students education.
My classes for junior year are all either honors or AP. I've also got APS electives under my belt (facing history and ourselves, gender studies through literature).

Pretty much, if I do fantastic junior and senior year, will it make up for the colossal ****
up's I call freshman and sophomore year?

Please give me an honest opinion, and tell me anything I could do to better my chances. NYC CAS is number one on my list, and is the perfect school for me. I live not too far away and there's plenty of public transportation in the city. What are my chances?
