Chances for NYU or BU?

Sorry if I did something wrong, this is my first time!

I go to a high end magnet school for the media communications program, and I am applying into the cinematography program. I have taken many classes that pertain to my soon to be major.
Prior to Junior year I had a 3.0 uwGPA and a 3.4 wGPA, but in my first semester this year I managed to get a 3.7 uwGPA (I don't know how that averages in yet)
Sophomore year I took the AP World History exam and got a 2 (sad I know, I might not send that in) I am currently enrolled in AP psychology and AP US history and I plan to do well on those tests
I have decent extra curriculars. I have been volunteering at a local elementary school and have over 180 hours there. I was in photography club sophomore year. freshman and sophomore year I was on a club softball team. This year I am senator of my high school's diversity club, and I am also in my program's media club. I plan on winning many competitions in SKILLSUSA this year.
I plan on taking my SATs and getting at least an 1800
I believe my portfolio will be what sets me apart from other applicants.
I am graduating in 2011
( I am an African American female if that helps)
Thanks for your help! :)

For NYU, you will definitely need to aim higher SAT-score-wise. I don’t think 1800 will cut it.

you might want to apply to NYU ED I believe if your GPA is lower and you absolutely love NYU apply ED. I no from just my school that the kids accepted to NYU ED had an average GPA of 3.2 and regular the average GPA accepted was a 3.5 so ED might be a better route for you.

I think if you raise your test scores and present some more distinctions [awards, etc.] you could increase your attractiveness to admissions.

What would be so special about your portfolio?

Chance back?
