Probably some other stuff I can't think of....

Thanks so much for all your help, sorry this is so long!

Kiki

Of course you got a good shot...you know that already

Any other opinions? Just hearing about how competitive Stern is makes me nervous, and I'm looking for any input I can get. Thanks!

Please, some more opinions? Stern is my first choice.

You have a very good chance of getting into Stern, I'd say. you probably have a decent chance at getting in Stern Scholars as well. I'm a freshman at Stern, so I've been through the application process and I have a general idea of the caliber of students here.

If you or anyone else has any questions about NYU or Stern from a freshman's perspective, ask away.

Hey! Thanks so much for your reply, Stern is my first choice and I would love to go there. Can you tell me what life is like for a freshman at Stern? What are the students like, teachers, classes, etc.? Thanks so much!

hey nyu_student,
do you knows if nyu takes into consideration first quarter senior grades for ED?

also kiki,
i think you have a very good chance....the internet business is impressive

Hey hmanx! Thanks for your comment. Since you can't send a midyear report with your early decison, I don't think they consider senior grades. I hope that helps!

Many times they call up your high school and ask for your grades though when applying early.

IHeartNY08 - are you serious? I've never heard of that. That seems highly unethical.

I heard somewhere that NYU doesn't like to get Midyear reports...anyone else hear of this? It seems weird to me, but I don't want to send them one if they don't want it.

Kiki

Yep, I applied ED to Barnard and they did that. My guidance counselor said many schools do that.

yea why would they check 1st term grades if they don't want mid-year reports? because they wouldnt check the grades of RD ppl

I don't usually weigh in on the what are my chances posts but as far as the mid-year reports go, I can tell you that NYU does NOT ask for them. They also do not call guidance counsellors and ask about first quarter grades. If you're accepted, you will have to provide NYU with a final transcript at the end of Senior Year. Any acceptance is conditional on the successful completion of all coursework in progress at the time of application. If your marks drop significantly, the acceptance could be rescinded.

thats very helpful, thanks a lot

Thank you very much, alwaysamom, that is very helpful. I wasn't sure if the thing I had heard about not wanting midyear reports was a rumor or not. I appreciate your help!

NYU asks for midyear reports...why would they include it in their application then? And what happens if i have a 3.63 now (UW) and then my grades at about 3.6 for mid year will i be hurt? cuze i wanted to go up!

i’d say that ur in

way to bring up a thread from like 6 years ago. lol.

Hey! I’m a senior whose getting ready for college. Can you guys evaluate me and tell me your opinions on whether you think i can get into Stern or not? I’m debating over whether I should be doing Early Decision or not… would my chances be higher if I did?

Cumulative GPA: 3.45 (unweighted)
I take the IB diploma program, so I’m pretty sure my GPA would get weighted depending on the schools. I know my GPA isn’t the best, and this is my GPA so far from Junior year. If I go early, then this is what they would be seeing. If I apply normally, my GPA this semester I know would be higher, but then again the acceptance rate would go down if I apply with everyone else… right?

My GPA for Junior Year was 3.57 and 3.625

SAT scores

Critical Reading - 700
Writing - 800
Total: 2250

SAT II

Are my chances okay? Do you think I will be able to get in? I’m hoping my admission essay, other activities and SAT scores make up for my GPA. I also attend an international school in Japan. Thanks for the help!
