so i have 2.86 unweighted gpa. i messed up my junior year because i was having family problems and failed AP Chem. my course load in hs consisted of mostly honors classes. i just took my ACT's and i felt really confident about them rather than the first time i took them and got a 23 without studying (not good at all). i have numerous EC's and over 200 hours of community service from working at my local hospital. i know i have an extremely slim chance, but do i still have hope for nyu?

Almost no chance.
You are about a full GPA point and about 10 ACT points away from being a competitive applicant. You really need to be looking at a very different type of school.

Sorry, but soze is right. NYU only accepts 32% of applicants, and those applicants are all very competitive. Try looking at a state school that isn’t very competitive and accepts around 70% of applicants.
