Alright, do you guys think that I'm reaching too far? DO I actually have a decent chance of getting in to these schools OOS?

Also, I need some good safety schools....any suggestions??

I think your “ideal” schools are reaches as well. UNCCH feels standardized tests are very important. UVA only rates them as important but has state residency as very important. While your school record is commendable it will be difficult for you to get into either with that ACT. How far are you willing to go (geographically) for a safety school?

UNC and UVA should be reaches, very competitive.

Decent EC, weak stats.

Reaching a bit high unless that ACT comes up.

I’m working on the tests…but…I don’t know.
I also have a great rec from a Kenan-Flagler alumm.

As for the safeties…I don’t want to leave the eastern time zone.

noob…weak stats as in tests…or overall? (gpa…etc)

your act needs to be about 4 or 5 points higher for anything more then penn state or florida.

i’m not even sure BU can be a safety as your stats stand now

Yea…I should just quit while I’m still slightly sane and save myself the pain of a course load of 3 APs and 2 Dual-Enrollments this fall…

I don’t even know why I’m even visiting the schools next week - WHAT’S THE POINT?

I always knew these tests would ruin me…

so…I give up…

nope, just try working on them a bit. you have a good rank/gpa

I’m guessing being Hispanic or a first generation doesn’t help, right?
Who am I kidding…

It doesn’t help 5-6 points on the ACT much. At even universities with the most egregious AA practices being Hispanic is only going to be worth 2-3 points. Buckle down and get your scores up if you want to leave Florida so badly.

So what is the score I should aim for…is a 36 my only option…or if not I don’t even bother applying?

By the by, are there any good schools in the Eastern Time Zone that I would have a realistic chance of getting admitted at?

I don’t mean to be harsh but UNC-CH is nearly impossible OOS and I’m sure UVa isn’t much easier. With a 27 ACT, chances are dim at either school no matter whatever else you have going for you.

ANY safety school suggestions?

Delaware, Pitt, and UConn are all good schools and could possibly be your safeties.

Try Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan State, Miami of Ohio, and Ohio University for a good helping of state school safeties with exceptional business programs.

I really don’t want to go so far. I want to stay on the east coast.

APino125, Delaware, Pitt, and UConn all ARE on the east coast. Or were you talking to OHKID?

Yes, Yes, aajjc, thanks for your suggestions, I was referring to OHKID. :/
