Chances for out of state computer science major?

Hi, I’m from out of state and wondering how good my chances are for CalPoly CS.

ACT super score (math and English): 35
GPA unweighted 3.73 weighted 4.0
I’ve taken the most rigorous classes at my high school in math and science, will take 8 AP classes by the end of high school.

What are my chances of getting in for Out of State? And how could I increase my chances? My SAT 2 scores for math and chemistry are high, do they help? Thanks

Look at posts #2 and #7. Calculate your MCA score. Then we can give you a better idea.

BTW, SAT II does not help, only what’s in the MCA.

Don’t discount applying to Computer Engineering or Software Engineering. Might be a tad easier to get in, while the curriculum, teaching staff and attractiveness to employers are not that different from CS. Additionally, transferring to CS is really easy from those majors.

My daughter got in CPE regular decision with similar stats and rigor (higher GPA) OOS two years ago and loves it. Those APs will also come in very handy in getting academic credit, reducing your time to graduation and allowing you to sign-up for classes easier than your peers, since you’d be eligible for those before them.

Good luck!
