I want to major in Biology.

Will going to Project Uplift at UNC help me?

Thank you!

I have to tell you, the fact that you attended an on-campus or college-related activity like Project Uplift is a major boost. Apart from demonstrating interest, it is a good addition to your resume and shows that your good grades and SAT scores (which are useful) are not just in a vacuum and demonstrate your personal social responsibility. Your only sticking point is that I don’t know if you are in-state or out-of-state. As you said, you are out of state now but if your family is willing to move to UNC and establish residency for your junior and senior year of high school, I’d give you a 90% chance of admission to UNC-Chapel Hill. If you persist in applying as an out-of-state applicant, then your chances drop slightly lower to 78% chance of admission to UNC Chapel Hill.

Good luck, and Godseed!

Thanks a lot for the response! My family will not be moving to North Carolina, but how did you arrive to those estimates?

Those arbitrary numbers are very, very odd. random, I wouldn’t take those percentages seriously.

those were the silliest percentages I’ve ever seen in my life. In-state you probably have a 100% chance, out of state is much lower. But the extracurricular look really nice even if the gpa isn’t all that. And if you’re really hispanic, that can only work for you.

I think you’d probably get in. I’m an oos minority and got in with a 3.0 and like no extracurriculars. pretty much the only think i had going for me was a 1510 on the SAT and some decent subject test scores. my friend also got in with lower SATs but higher gpa/class rank she’s a minority too haha.

Uh… those percentages are pretty clearly a joke.

Either that or the poster is an idiot.

Detreacy: That would be the exception, not the norm. I got in (OOS) with a D in chemistry AND physics in my junior year. That’s not the norm either.
