Chances for Oxford or Cambridge?

no, not any specific classes, but 1/4th classes should be in the social sciences and humanities.
I believe you when you say there’s a lot of reading/writing in a cam course  so Achilles09 would surely be ready to analyze different types of texts, but as far as I know reading chemistry wouldn’t let him take classes in sociology, psychology, and English (let alone develop fluency in a foreign language).
Some schools actually like it better if the applicants have a humanities or social science major AND have pulled A’s or near all-A’s in all their science prerequisites (1 year biology, 2 years chemistry, biochemistry/neuroscience, 1 year calculus-based physics, 1 year calculus + further math up to linear algebra if possible) plus research, shadowing, and medical internships/volunteering.
If Achiles is not certain about med school, however, his path is well thought-out. He’d get superior preparation in chem at Cambridge  and would be very competitive to apply to grad schools.

sciencerules and ravenclaw while your enthusiasm is nice, it is clear that you are not at all familiar with the UK system. You should probably stick to the areas that you know better. (this is being said in a firm but kindly way…)

uscamstudent, are you sure about Econ? typically the two together count as 1, b/c they are B list APs. LSE doesn’t even accept AP Econ, and Oxford counts the 2 as 1- but you know Cambridge better, so it might be different there.

@collegemom3717: Thank you for the suggestion. I may just stick to schools in the US, but you see the only reason I was even remotely interested in Cambridge is because as a child born (and living for 9 years) in a country relatively close to England, this school was my childhood dream just as Harvard may be a dream for a kid in the suburbs of Boston. But as you said, these schools in the US may be more of a fit for me though, as I am more familiar with them.

@collegemom3717: I don’t know about Oxford or LSE but for my offer at Cam they were counted seperately
