Chances for PA/PEA, DA, Hkiss, Emma Willard, Choate

...Yep.

Race: Caucasian (nothing special here)
Gender: Female
Financial aid: Yes
State: New York
Grade applying for: 10th, remote possibility of repeating 9th but not likely
Legacy: Cousin is a senior at Andover (he posts on this forum).
Summer programs applying to: PA summer session; possibly CTY if I can figure out how

Grades for quarter 1:

Biology Honors: 99
PE: 98
Global 1 Honors: 96 (scored straight 100s on the quizzes for like a month)
Chinese 1: 97
English: 99
Design and Drawing for Production (basically "art"): 100
Algebra 1: 96 (planning to take Geometry in my lunch hour since I pretty much know Algebra)
Overall: 97.86

Unfortunately, my grades will probably drop this quarter because I missed 7 and a half days of school. Plus, I missed a test in gym when I sprained my ankle and my teachers says I can't make it up, so I don't know how that'll affect my grade. :( I really hope I can still make the Principal's List.

Recommendations: I don't mean to brag, but most of my teachers like me, so I'm guessing the recs will be sufficient. Plus, I know 2 adults who are/were college professors and could possibly write my personal recs. One of them was my robotics coach and she wrote me the rec letter that got me into the Dudley Observatory program :)

Music:
Piano. 4 years of private lessons. I'm no concert pianist and I can't play by ear for crap. XD

Sports:
Gymnastics. 3 years. 6-8 months of competitive team. Level 5 USAG. I'm no world class gymnast, either.

Art:
Stone Soup recognized my artwork, but never gave me a story to illustrate! Grr. Oh well.

Science:
Lego Robotics. 7-8th grade. Member of LLL (omitting full name) homeschool team. Competed in several events, and won a few awards (robot design, robot performance, teamwork). We were also featured in a brief news clip :)
Science Olympiad. 2nd place in Solar System category at invitational. Turns out the test was COPIED from the one astronomy textbook I had not being studying! Worst. Irony. Ever.
Dudley Observatory intern. Selected in 7th grade and presented with my own telescope <3. I still attend most of their major events. I'm also a member of Albany Area Amateur Astronomers.

Clubs affiliated with school:
None! But I want to join GSA if it doesn't conflict with gymnastics. I know this looks terrible on an application, but I don't like my school and I just want to get the heck out when the day is over.

Other: Homeschooled pre-K through 8th. It makes me unique, I guess.

WHERE'S THE COMMUNITY SERVICE? ...Nowhere. I need to get working on that one.

you have very decent grades, lack of E/C will be a little tough, and saying you want to get out of school ASAP is not something to mention on the HS app, however the rest I’d say depends on your SSAT, essays and interview, you still have yet to tell me what makes YOU yourself special and DIFFERENT from the other candidates, nonetheless good luck!

Omg we have like the SAME stats. Xept I’m in 8th. That’s why you need to set yourself apart. I play sports though and I’m not from NY. For community service just volunteer at a food pantry. That’s what I do it’s easy.

Btw I think you’ll be great. Just a quick question. Do you got to public school or private school? Cuz if you go to a rigerois private school your pretty much already in with those grades!!

If you did something unique or interesting as a homeschooler–or just had a rigorous curriculum, that can set you apart.

Thanks everyone :)

shushuga: Lol I don’t plan to mention it on the apps xD Thanks for the luck~
Ehphant: Thanks! I go to an okay public school. Not very rigorous, unfortunately.
Classicalmama: I never did anything particularly interesting during my homeschool period (lol) but I think it helped me become more independent and self-motivated. So I’ve been trying to work this into my essays.
