Chances for Penn Admission

Hi,

About a month ago in November, I submitted my ED application for the University of Pennsylvania. I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences, for the economics course. I was wondering if somebody could tell me how well I stack up against others. Below is a list of all my classes, predicteds, extra-curriculars etc...

Ethnicity- Indian, but I have never lived in India. I have lived between Tanzania and Zambia, two east african nations....I'm a third cultured kid.

School-Private-One of the most reputed in not only the country but also eastern africa. The penn undergrad admissions representative visits our school every year. I managed to meet with her and have a good flowing conversation with her.

Please let me know how good my chances are...Thanks

Your ECs are fine, but IB English score, SAT 1 scores, and SAT 2 scores are all really low.

Your SAT is too low.

I know my SAT’s are low but in my entire grade nobody has got higher than 1950…its because we live so far away from any real prep materials.

Also, i heard that for international students SAT’s dont count as much.

As for SATII’s, I got the highest amongst the people who applied ED with me to Penn.

Do you think that Penn weights SATs greatly? I thought I heard that Recomendation letters, application essays and rigor of high-school courses are REALLY important…the rest just considered or important.

“Do you think that Penn weights SATs greatly?”
we shall find out tomorrow. good luck!

;) Thanks!

Did you apply to Penn too?

Yes, Penn weighs SAT greatly. Your CR score will tell them that it would be difficult for you to succeed there. It would be near impossible for you to get into Penn now.

You may want to take a year and work on the scores if you think you can do much better and you really want to attend a good US school. You have a background that could interest many. But you’d need a bare minimum 650 CR score and SAT Iis and math over 700 to have any shot.
