Are there any schools that are similar that I am leaving out?

Would I have a snowball’s chance in hell with Brown’s PLME?

Everything looks solid: good scores and grades, as well as nice ECs. The top schools could go either way very easily (which bodes well for being accepted into at least one).

Yes, your ECs seem to tend that way, and your stats are good. Admittance to the program would be unlikely but reasonably within reach, so apply if you want.

Thanks silverturtle :)

It is nice to see a familiar face from the SAT boards haha.

I’ll just have to do some awesome essay writing to sway the adcoms then!

Your resume reminds me of mine somewhat.

Penn ED will likely depend a lot on whether you are a citizen or International (and FA need as well). Similar for some other schools. I’d bet you wouldn’t be accepted to all Ivy league schools you apply to, but you’d at least have a decent shot at getting accepted to at a couple.

Brown PLME… ouch. I never had the chance to even apply because of my ED agreement with Penn, but based on previous research, I’d say it will be RIDICULOUSLY hard to get in.

If you are from PA, what school did you run for (or were alternate for) at xc states?

CornelHopeful, I am from the West Coast. Sorry!

Geekorathletic: I am a citizen. THat helps out a lot right? I don’t expect to get ANY financial aid. Also, how do you like Penn? :)

Doesn’t really help you at all. It just places you in a different, slightly less competitive pool by being a citizen. Remember, for citizens FA need doesn’t matter at Penn.

I love Penn.

Right, right. Meant it helps a lot more than being an International student who needs FA.

Do you guys think I should bring up playing for piano for ten years and being in band for six? I enjoyed it, but was never AMAZING at it…Thoughts?

GPA: Great!
SATI: Great!
ECs: Very good, but remember to highlight several and show your talent and passion. “Well-rounded” with talent is what you want to convey.

Brown- match + need some luck (because admissions are unpredictable at schools such as these)
Duke- match + need some luck
Wash U in St. Louis- match + need some luck

Pomona- I’m not sure about this one (not as familiar with Pomona as with the other schools)
Tufts - very good chance
Northeastern- very good chance

Case Western (Pre Prof)- I don’t know what “pre-prof” is. But for Case Western in general you have a very good chance.
JHU- good chance

Hey Zenith!!

Thanks for the chances as well as the super helpful info on Wash U :)

Do you think it’s a problem that some other candidates from my school are applying too?

Similar grades/Ecs etc?

bump 10char

Thanks for chancing my thread! Now to return the favor…

I think you’re a match for Case Western and Northeastern. You have the stats for Penn, Brown, Duke, WashU, Pomona, Tufts, and JHU but I’d say low reach because your essay needs to distinguish itself from the heap of applicants with good stats they have. So just make sure you write some kickass essays!
