Chances for Penn State Main?

Currently a Senior at a small, Catholic high school in Northeastern PA, here are my stats:

ACT: 32 Reading, 18 Math, 22 Writing and 22 Science
SAT: 500 Math, 570 Reading, 550 Writing

Rank: 27/80
Unweighted GPA: 3.4 (low, I know)
1 A.P., 9 Honors Classes
3 Years of Latin Honors, 4 Years of Spanish Honors

EC’s: XC (1 year), Soccer (2 years), Debate (2 years), Senior Student Government (1 year), Spanish Club (2 years).

Completed over 100+ of community service.

I’ve also planning on admissions to Villanova, Fordham, SUNY Albany, St. Joseph’s and Temple. Am I too underachieving for these schools? Any feedback is welcomed!

Is your ACT a typo? Did you really score so high in Reading?

No, that’s my actual score from the April 2015 ACT, I would send a screenshot but I don’t think you can on here (?). It says below the score, “Social Studies/Sciences” which was 16 and “Arts/Literature” which was 17.

I was just surprised that Reading was so high and everything else so low. Good job in that section, then!

Here’s last year’s Common Data Set. Parts of both your SAT and ACT are below the 25th percentile. You could consider summer session and applying undecided.

Update: I got a 26 composite on my latest ACT, have my chances changed?

In mid-50% of ACT now. Congrats on your improvement!

I would allow myself some cautious optimism. Both your ACT and your GPA are (again, using the CDS linked earlier) within the ballpark, though a bit on the lower side. You can still consider applying undecided and/or for summer session, both of which may give you a “bump.”

Should I send the 26 as soon as I can or should I retake and wait (it would be in November)? Thanks for being helpful and with the undecided and summer session options, I selected both!

Bump. Chance me for Fordham, Albany, and Temple, please?
