I am a rising senior that is wanting to attend Penn State University Park.

2 years of National Honor Society
Haven’t decided what major I want yet but I am thinking about biology.
I see mentions of DUS… just learning about Penn State… daughter is a junior. So I am assuming you have to apply to a certain college at PSU when you apply? and DUS if for undecided and maybe gives you more of a chance ? My daughter would be OOS, wouldl major in communications and while she doesn’t have her test scores she will likely have a 4.2 weighted and 6 APs, yearbook, JV sports and part time job on her application. Is communications hard to get into?
@katcap , the College of Comm isn’t quite as competitive as Smeal Business, Nursing, or Engineering. She should be fine to apply directly to that College with those grades. Admissions is 2/3rd GPA and 1/3 SAT. Many prospective students have caught on that DUS may be a tad easier to get into. As a result, more students are applying to DUS and thus making it more competitive. I think last year there were online discussions about DUS being more difficult to get into than say Liberal Arts or Communications.
If she applies and for some odd reason gets rejected, just call them up and ask to have her reevaluated for DUS. But again, with her grades, I’d recommend applying directly to College of Comm with a summer start date as an option.
