Chances for Penn State UP after priority deadline?

UW GPA: 3.9

W GPA: 4.3

SAT Scores: 1710

EC's include Marching Band, cross country, one year of soccer, National honor society, considerable amount of volunteer work, FBLA, babysitting, summer job, and some other very minor ones

Major is Physics

How much more competitive is it to get in after the priority deadline? When should I expect to hear from them? I applied today, 12/05.

ECs and major please… the rating below is provisional and assumes no ECs. I know PSU is mostly grade-driven, though.

PSU (no ECs): Match

EC’s include Marching Band, cross country, one year of soccer, National honor society, considerable amount of volunteer work, FBLA, babysitting, summer job, and some other very minor ones

Major is Physics

Would it still be a match after the priority deadline, though?

EC’s and GPA are solid, but the SAT is not. Can you still retake it and have it sent for consideration? Because it would help you a lot. But Penn State definitely is in your range

Try the ACT, too…

Low match/match (remember, PSU UP is more grade-driven but now that both ECs and majors are there; would have been a definite low match if you went the EA route)

Do you think that I would still have time to re-take the sat’s or take th act’s? So is a physics major competitive? And EA as in Early Action?

Priority deadline is how PSU UP (and UMD also) calls Early Action.

I don’t think the physics major is more competitive than the average major at Eberly Science (this is where you end up at PSU UP if admitted) but I can’t say much more.
