Hello everyone. I’m currently a high school junior in Pennsylvania and I want to get some feedback on my chances of getting into Penn State UP. I would like to major in General Physics.
Here are my stats:
UWGPA: 3.966/4
WGPA: 4.51/5
SAT (New): 1350
Class Rank: 20/484
I have taken 13 Honors courses, one non honors English class, AP Physics 1, AP Chemistry, and AP Statistics.
Additionally, I plan on taking 5 AP Classes for my senior year, including AP Calculus BC and AP Physics Calculus Based.
You’ll be fine! Consider applying to Schreyer.
@bodangles Do you think I actually have a chance at Schreyer?
Sure, why not?
They look at your high school record, but the most important factor is the essays, so it’s very subjective and not very easy to predict.
My S stats are about the same looking at Engineer but how many do they take ea yr into Schreyer- is it divided per major ? I see it’s an extra 5k for Schreyers honors college too.
@Jonsmom14 Last year about 739 students were offered admission (calculated from http://news.psu.edu/story/396770/2016/03/10/academics/schreyer-honors-college-announces-acceptances-class-2020 data – 3930 applications and acceptance rate of 18.8%). They have the effects of yield pretty well calculated to ensure that about 300 students ultimately choose to attend. I don’t think major is taken into consideration.
@Bodangles- thank you. They are top of the class !!
