Chances for Penn?

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could chance me for ED to Penn SEAS? (I also applied to M&T, but in light of my perceived chances I doubt there's even a chance)

SAT: 2230(Reading: 700, Math: 770, Writing: 760)

SAT II: Math II: 800, Chemistry: 780, US History: 770 (I practically winged this one, studied only the night before and relied mostly on what I already knew)

AP: Chemistry: 5, Statistics: 4, European History: 5, Calculus BC: 5, Calculus AB subscore: 5, Language & Composition: 5, Physics C Mechanics: 5, Physics C Electricity & Magnetism: 4.

GPA: 4.49 (weighted on a 5.0 scale, can't seem to find my normal 4.0 scaled one)

Class schedule for senior year: AP US History, AP Computer Science, AP Physics B(lol), AP Literature & Composition; AP Microeconomics, German 2H (jumped language for a heavier science course load), and some honors speech class.

In school EC: Mathletics (ever year but 10th, assistant captain 11th), Programming Club (makeshift club as a co-founder), Young Engineers Club(all years but 9th, treasurer 11th), band (all years but 9th)

Summer activities: Volunteer at a rehab center for 4 years, a local library for 4 years, took classes from a community college nearby for 2 years, was treasurer for some odd organization named "HELP International" in a cultural exchange trip in China, had an internship under my uncle in China as a "personal accountant," "interned" (read: ran minor errands) under the former governor of Hunan province (only because my father's parents were well-known CPC members), got referral letters from both.

Other: Pianist & Trombonist, 1st gen in US (parents from China), PA resident (1hr from Philly), had an interview (interviewed rather liked me a lot), essays are in the air as to quality (in the end, a lot of people really liked my why Penn and M&T essays though).

So, what do you guys think? Good? Bad?

You have the same problem as me - you are applying to SEAS without taking the SAT Physics exam. You have the AP Physics scores, though, so I don’t see it hurting you a lot.

Your SAT score is not brilliant, it might hurt you a little bit. Your ECs are okay, not brilliant.

I’m assuming you’re a guy; girls have a slight advantage applying to SEAS.

All things considered I’d give you a 15% shot if you’re a guy and a 25% shot if you’re a girl. I’m new to chancing people, though, so take my comment with a grain of salt.

Indeed I am a male (gee, it almost seems as if it’s a reverse discrimination with the ivies now).

Well, I suppose it’s not too bad if I didn’t get in (apparently Penn Engineering is lower ranked in terms of an engineering education than Penn State’s (!!!))

I think it still depends on the specific program though. Penn’s bioengineering program, for example, is said to be quite rad.

^ top-5 or top-10 in the nation (depending on the ranking).

It might not have been a great idea to declare my major in then… (declared Electrical Engineering, was originally thinking to keep undeclared)
