Chances for Petroleum Engineering at Cockrell school of Engineering at UT

I'm an Indian (Asian) male and I was wondering my chances to get into Cockrell school of engineering at UT to do Petroleum Engineering.
Class rank: 1/400ish
ACT: 28
SAT: 1850 (700 math, 560 on CR)
All AP classes pretty much. Senior year, 5 ap classes including physics, calc, stats, etc.
I have taken ap chemistry.
Thanks, anybody's opinion would be appreciated

I’m also a part of NHS, HOSA, and few clubs. I have worked at a tutoring place for young children since I was a freshmen (I am going to be a senior in the coming fall).

If there is any more information that would help to determine the chance, feel free to ask.
Thanks!

Well you have oustanding rank, and you’ll basically be relying on that to get you in because your scores are pretty weak.

I find it interesting that the test scores do not go with a class rank of 1/400. They are very low for a valedictorian. Obviously you are an auto-admit to UT and your class rank and GPA will help your chances with engineering but your test scores and math score will not help. Retake them if possible.

Thank you for the feedback. Do you think that I stand a good chance with my current standings to get into the engineering school? (I live in Texas, I forgot to clarify). Because to be honest, I don’t see much of an improvement for my scores even if I retake

Your Math score is ok, not great for Cockrell. You can target CR because a 600+ will get you out of a freshman course. Your rank will help a lot but it is a competitive major.

BTW there are plenty of tips on this site for imoroving CR or overall score.

Thanks for the opinions. Still looking for opinions on my chances with my current position!
