Chances for pharmacology and biomed engineering programs

I'm applying to some Phd programs in pharmacology and biomed engineering. I just wanna know my chances of getting in at least one of the programs I intend to apply.

GRE (general): V390, Q790
GPA: 3.77, Science GPA: 3.78
Major: Biochemistry
3 years of research experience in organic chemistry and bacteriology.

Programs

NYU sackler institute - Pharmacology
Albert Einstien, Yeshiva University - Pharmacology
Columbia - Pharmacology
Stony Brook - Pharmacology
Weill Cornell School of Medicine - Pharmacology
Brown University - Biomedical Engineering
Johns Hopkins - Biomedical Engineering
City College of New York - Biomedical Engineering
Texas A&M University - Biochemistry
University of Texas Southwestern - Pharmacology

Please post what you think about my list. Am I aiming too high with my horrible GRE verbal score? Is my GPA good enough for those programs? If you know some safety schools for pharmacology and biomed engineering, please let me know also. Thanks a lot.

I'd probably try retaking the GRE ... the verbal's something of minor concern. I took the test twice, about a year apart and did >100 pts better the second time around without additional studying. I think it helps just to give it a test run (then again, I did that with the SATs as well) . But your qGRE and GPA beat mine. :)

I have the feeling that the reviewers look for potential grad students by seeing how some applicants stand out above the rest -- ie, have they already proven themselves worthy of graduate student life via publications, conferences, etc? Make sure this is clear in your application. I had some not-impressive academic features (Bs and Cs in some core science classes) but I think they got the idea that I was a much happier person in lab than in the classroom.

I'm also in one of your NYC schools :)
