Chances for Phd Political Science Admission?

Hi All,

Since I'm relatively new to this site, I thought I would ask for general feedback on my chances for admission to Phd Political Science programs?

680Q, 660V, 6W
3.71 GPA, 3.7 (Major)
Graduated in 2 1/2 years from tier two state university
J.D. With Honors from top 20 law school
12 years experience as lobbyist for national organization
No research (published)

I've applied to Michigan State, Notre Dame, Indiana, Iowa.

I didn't really study for the GRE, I suppose I could take again and improve

Any Thoughts?

With those test scores, GPA, and experience, all of the schools you listed will take a careful look at your application. I would not worry about the GRE scores. I think you're in reasonable shape for this set of schools.

But are you geographically limited to the upper Midwest? And even if you are, that is a strange set of schools (depends on your interest within political science I suppose) to choose - for example, why not Michigan? Or Chicago or Northwestern?

porky-
Michigan seemed more than a reach for me and Chicago and Northwestern would be too expensive from a cost of living standpoint -- at least for me -- I'm a nontraditional student with a family so I have to be careful about things like that.

Sounds reasonable to me - the cost of living in Chicago is much higher than anywhere else you applied... Good luck with the admissions process.
